The RBA was formed in 1995 with the aim of raising standards of service within the bridal industry.
At the time many brides were purchasing their gowns from home-based shops, from dressmakers
and fly-by-night retailers taking advantage of the vulnerability of brides. The RBA has successfully
campaigned to persuade bridal gown manufacturers to supply only VAT-registered retailers trading
from dedicated business premises.
Eleven years on, and the membership consists of a UK-wide organisation of well-established quality
bridalwear and men's formalwear retailers that carry the RBA seal of approval. The RBA continues
to grow steadily and has forged valuable links with bridalwear manufacturers' organisations and is
frequently consulted by The Government on crucial issues, for example, quota restrictions on imported
bridal goods.
Today the RBA is taking their campaign further to warn brides about the hazards
of dealing with internet bridal traders.
RBA Members are..
Independent retailers with over five years trading subject to business rates and paying VAT.
Financially sound, offering professional standards of care and service, and high standards of stock
and decor.
Dedicated to the welfare of the bride and groom
